Pride Month 2021 | Celebrate, support & listen

Pride is about communities coming together in celebration, protest, unity and solidarity.

At Fosse Healthcare, equality, inclusion and diversity matters. It is not simply policies and procedures, we maintain an environment where different genders, races, nationalities, and sexual orientations and identities can work comfortably and effectively together.  A workplace culture thriving off unity which is filtered through to our external care.

Every June, we come together with the rest of the world to celebrate diversity and inclusion with Pride month. Pride month takes a positive stand against discrimination and ill-treatment of those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) and helps to raise awareness of diversity and inclusion in all walks of society.

The history of ‘Pride’ dates back to the Stonewall uprising of 1969 when members of the LGBT community clashed with police outside of the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan. This event, and the riots that followed, has since been identified as the birth of the international gay rights movement.

Since then, there has been tremendous strides for the LGBTQ community as we continue to improve the attitudes of society and encourage inclusiveness. However, issues and injustice remain.

With the number of LGBTQ seniors continuously rising (set to double in ten years’ time), health and social care providers must take a heavy stance on equality and tailored support. Around 90% of LGBTQ seniors are currently ageing without children and have little contact with their biological families, so commitment to inclusive care vital. We need to help people feel safe and valued.

Join us throughout June in amplifying Pride’s voice, advocating positive change and pushing for an equal and fair world.
