A live band, pie and peas!

Working with Mansfield District Council, this month we were able to provide residents at Poppy Fields care home with a live performance from a local band. Our mini festival had the service users singing, dancing and laughing throughout! Then once they were all music’d out they were able to sit down together in the atrium and enjoy some delicious pie and peas.

Everyone had such an amazing day, and we can’t wait to collaborate with Mansfield District Council again to put on more activities and events for our residents.

Check out this short video from the live band…

Learning sign language to support our service users

Monday, October 18th, 2021
Some of our staff have decided to learn sign language to help break the communication barrier with one of our new service users.

Over at Poppy Fields Care Home in Mansfield, they have got a lovely new service user who has joined their Assessment Unit. Our Assessment Unit Lead, Sharon, is helping him settle into his new facility and, although he is a brilliant lip reader, Sharon wants to make him to feel more comfortable in communicating with the team.

So, now the pair are working together to help Sharon and her team learn sign language. They have started out with some basic signs and Sharon says it’s already making a huge difference!

Going forward we want to replicate this knowledge and understanding to help improve our care support for future service users across the region.
